I His first coming was prophesied 2400 years ago by the prophet Isaiah. Mat. 1:22,23

22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Mat. 1:22,23 (Is. 7:14)

II His First Coming Nearly 2000 Years Ago. Mat. 1:20,21

20. .... behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Mat. 1:20,21

III Where did Jesus Come from?

1. Of the Holy Ghost

.....that which is conceived of her is of the Holy Ghost. Mat. 1:20

2. From the Father

.... I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

Jn. 8:42

IV Purposes of His first coming

1. To do the Father's will

For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. Jn. 6:38

2. To give his life for a ransom for many

Even as the son of man came..... to give his life a ransom for many. Mat. 20:28

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep Jn. 10:11

3. To minister

Even as the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, ........ Mat. 20:28

4. To call to repentance

I came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. Mk 2:17

5. To save people from their sins

.......For he shall save his people from their sins. Mat 1:21

........I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. Jn. 12:47

For the son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19:10

6. To bear witness unto the truth

To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Everyone that is of the truth heareth my voice. Jn. 18:37

7. To fulfill the law

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. Mat. 5:17

8. To send a sword

I came not to send peace, but a sword. Mat. 10:34

9. To give division

51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: Lk. 12:51

10. To send fire

49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? Lk. 12:49

11. That they might have life

....I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.

12. To be a light

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. Jn. 12:46

13. To make his abode with him who loves and obeys him.

23........... If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. Jn. 14:23,24

14. To preach the gospel to the poor

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; .... Lk. 4:18

15. To heal the brokenhearted Lk. 4:18

16. To preach deliverance to the captives Lk. 4:18

17. To preach recovering of sight to the blind Lk. 4:18

1. To set at liberty them that are bruised Lk. 4:18

1. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord Is. 61:2

20 To redeem

4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Gal. 4:4-6

21. To cast out devils and heal the sick

32 ....... Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third [day] I shall be perfected. Lk. 13:32

22. To Glorify God's Name

27......but for this cause came I unto this hour.

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, [saying], I have both glorified [it], and will glorify [it] again. Jn. 12:27-28

24. Purposes of Christ's Coming as Recorded in Isaiah chapter 61

1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD [is] upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to [them that are] bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.

5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien [shall be] your plowmen and your vinedressers.

6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: [men] shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.

7 For your shame [ye shall have] double; and [for] confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.

8 For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they [are] the seed [which] the LORD hath blessed.

10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh [himself] with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth [herself] with her jewels.

11 For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. Is. 61:1-11

V The Way of Salvation

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Jn 3:16

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Heb. 9:14

VI The Great Commission

15 And he said unto them, {Go ye into all the world,} and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mk. 16: 15-18

VII His Ascension into Heaven

19 ......he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. Mk 16:19

51..... he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. Lk. 24:51

9 .....he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. Acts 1:9

VIII The Coming of the Comforter

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Jn. 16:7

When he is come....

1) he will reprove the world of sin

2) he will reprove the world of righteousness

3) he will reprove the world of judgment Jn 16:8

4) he will guide you into all truth. Jn 16:13

5) he will shew you things to come Jn. 16:13

6) he shall glorify me (Jesus): for he shall receive of mine and shall shew it unto you. Jn. 16:14

7) Holy Ghost and Fire Baptism

....He (Jesus) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Lk. 3:16

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4 Acts 19:1-7
